Laboratory of laser based research

The laboratory of laser based research at the Institute for Tropospheric Research is mainly focused on investigations of photochemically induced radical reactions and non-radical reactions of the aqueous phase in the tropospheric multiphase system. To investigate these free radical reactions several laser photolysis-laser long-path absorption setups are available. The non-radical reactions will be observed by using a stopped flow apparatus and other spectrometer using UV/ VIS spectroscopy. Furthermore photochemically induced degradation processes of chemical compounds which are related atmosphere such as iron complexes or nitrosoamines will be examined. The resulting products are characterized and quantified by various analytical methods.
