The Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research is a research institute of the Leibniz Association and an internationally renowned institute in the field of aerosol and cloud research.

The Atmospheric Chemistry Department (ACD) is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher who will work on

Tasks:

Work complex A: (40%): 

  • Designing, conducting and evaluating laboratory investigations of surface reactions on aqueous particles with advanced laboratory experiments

  • Investigate chemical systems where interfacial chemistry could be important 

Work complex B (60 % ) : 

  • Work in the multiphase modelling CAPRAM team of TROPOS ACD

  • Conduct CAPRAM modelling projects and CAPRAM project contributions

  • Implement the results fm work complex (A) into CAPRAM-HET, 

General tasks

  • Organisation of project meetings, including preparation and follow-up, (i) internally in TROPOS ACD for projects where experimental work and modeling couple

  • Collaboration and coordination in the preparation of project reports 

  • Preparation of scientific publications, dissemination of results via conferences and public relations work

  • Close interdisciplinary cooperation with other national project partners, coordination of project activities

  • Co-organisation and participation in laboratory and field measurement campaigns

Qualifications:

 

The applicant should have a PhD in environmental sciences, chemistry or related disciplines. Experience in atmospheric sciences, analytical and, if applicable, physical chemistry is desirable, with theoretical and/or practical knowledge of IC, LC and GC and their respective MS couplings being helpful. Knowledge of atmospheric measurement techniques, experience in data analysis using statistical methods and knowledge of programming languages such as R, Matlab or Python are an advantage.
